Singapore's Borders Are Opening!

Singapore has launched Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) for quarantine-free travel with more than 20 countries, with more to come. In tandem, border measures are easing, making travelling easier. In 2022, we expect a strong rebound in Changi Airport's passenger traffic as business and leisure travel resume and international events return.

The travel bug is biting again - with the launch of the first VTLs with Germany and Brunei in September 2021. Based on Changi Airport's Traffic statistics, the introduction of the VTLs is spurring the return of international travellers.

Unleashing the Travel Bug
Riding on the VTLs and to encourage travel to Singapore, a tri-partite "Welcome back to Singapore" partnership between the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), Changi Airport and national carrier Singapore Airlines has been launched in VTL countries to inspire and drive travel demand to our city.

China, Indonesia and India were the top markets for international visitors to Singapore in 2021 - following similar trends in pre-pandemic times. Travel and tourism receipts will recover further in 2022 with more VTLs and easing of border measures.

A Strong Draw for C-Suite Travellers
In 2021, Singapore hosted more than 200 MICE events with international and local attendees. This number is set to grow as the STB continues to build up a strong pipeline of significant trade, leisure and lifestyle MICE events for 2022 and beyond.
As these in-person regional and international events continue to increase, Singapore is set for a busier year ahead. With a filled MICE calendar attracting international visitors, we can expect a stronger influx of C-suite travellers arriving at Changi Airport.
